The forest that multiplies fish was born in the Venice lagoon

17 April 2023 – In Lio Piccolo, a town in the Venetian lagoon, 12,000 trees capable of repopulating the underlying waters with over 10,000 fish every year have been planted in the banks of ancient and disused abandoned fishing ponds . The aim is to restore functionality and biodiversity for the breeding of native seawater fish species by exploiting solely the energy of natural phenomena , such as sun, wind and tides, and the food chain supported by them.

The initiative was implemented by Etifor, a spin-off of the University of Padua , and will continue over the next 5 years.
